Natalya Amres or ‘Tal’ is a Toronto based, self-taught designer and multidisciplinary artist focused on sustainable design.
In 2015, she taught herself to sew so she could alter the imperfect pieces she found thrifting and this is where the inspiration for reworking began.
With the constant and ever-evolving desire to experiment with different materials and creative projects, Natalya works with a diverse array of brands and individuals to reimagine design; taking the original product and transforming it to give it a new purpose.
Where some might see items that belong in a landfill, Natalya sees new possibilities for these discarded materials. Old blankets are transformed into teddy bears, while duffel bags become jackets. Sports equipment is remade into handbags, corsets and lampshades. The possibilities are endless.
Natalya is working to help inspire the movement toward a more sustainable future in the fashion industry.
